New York City will elect a new mayor on Nov. 2. Eric Adams, the New York Democratic Mayoral candidate and Brooklyn Borough President, has a history of relations with a Chinese organization that has received special attention from the U.S. government for influencing American officials, The National Pulse reported on Oct. 15. Adams met with senior officials of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in Beijing in 2017. The organization has been flagged by the U.S. government as seeking to “directly and malignly influence” American officials to promote pro-Beijing policies.
