A bipartisan group of senators on June 21 unveiled the text of a gun control bill, with a vote expected this week.
The bill includes key proposed changes to existing law.
Closing ‘Boyfriend Loophole’
A 1996 amendment to the Federal Gun Control Act barred people convicted of “a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence” from buying or owning a gun.
Such a crime is defined as a misdemeanor under federal state, tribal, or local law and must have been committed by “a current or former spouse, parent, or guardian of the victim, by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common, by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse, parent, or guardian, or by a person similarly situated to a spouse, parent, or guardian of the victim.”…https://www.theepochtimes.com/c-us-politics
