‘Alabama’s Liz Cheney’: Donald Trump Jr. Warns Voters About Katie Britt’s Establishment Ties

Katie Britt has received backing from a number of anti-Trump, GOP establishment insiders leading up to Alabama’s Republican Senate run-off. Key Britt backers include Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who has shelled out millions in order to get her over the finish line. Donald Trump Jr. has warned that Katie Britt will be “Alabama’s Liz Cheney” if she gets the nod.

“CNN seems to be very excited about the Alabama Liz Cheney jumping in against MAGA Mo Brooks,” wrote Donald Trump Jr. shortly after Britt announced her candidacy.

The comparison is far from unfounded, as Britt has surrounded herself with establishment insiders throughout her career.

Prior to announcing her candidacy, Katie Britt served as president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. Among candidates endorsed by the organization under Britt was U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL), a far-left radical who voted to impeach former President Trump.

In addition to her impeachment votes, Sewell has been an enthusiastic backer of thoroughly debunked Russian collusion conspiracies and the BLM riots. Most notably, Sewell sent out a tweet in support of Jacob Blake — a convicted sex offender who was shot in the process of kidnapping a child. He was also armed with a knife.

“We pray for Jacob & his family. As a nation, we must address these senseless acts of police brutality & work to provide justice for these victims!” Sewell tweeted shortly after the shooting.

There are no words to describe the way my heart aches for Jacob Blake, who was shot 7 times in front of his children in Wisconsin.

Katie Britt has also received $200,000 from Hugh Culverhouse Jr.

Culverhouse Jr. once called for a boycott of the state of Alabama after lawmakers enacted an abortion ban in 2019. He also donated to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020.

Britt has denied that the Culverhouse Jr. endorsement will impact her views, but conservative skeptics have simply told voters to follow the money.

On April 1, Mitch McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund donated $2 million to the Alabama’s Future PAC, which has supported Britt.

Her primary opponent — U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) — agreed with Donald Trump Jr.’s Liz Cheney comparison.

“He’s right! Katie Britt has the financial support of Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, all of whom voted to impeach Trump!” Brooks said. “Birds of a feather flock together.”
